Dr. Gkranias received his Diploma of
Dental Surgeon in 2000 from the University of Athens,
Greece. From 2000 until September 2003 he worked as
a general dentist in private practices and a dental
hospital in Athens Greece. In 2003 he was accepted in
the 3-year Periodontology course in the world-renowned
UCL Eastman Dental Institute, London. The Eastman MClinDent(Periodontology)
program is one of the 11 european periodontology programs,
and the only one in UK, that is accredited by the European
Federation of Periodontology (EFP). In September 2006
Dr. Gkranias graduated from the program and passed his
MClinDent examination and EFP accreditation with distinction.
During his last year of the program
and thereafter Dr. Gkranias has been working in private
dental practices in the major London area offering periodontal
treatment. He is currently sharing his time between
private practice and the UCL Eastman Dental Institute
where he is taking part in clinical dental research
and will be working towards a PhD degree at the Department
of Periodontology.
Nikolaos is currently working closely
with our dental team providing periodontal treatment
at the Antwerp House Dental Practice. He welcomes referrals
for all aspects of periodontal case modalities, including:
- diagnosis and treatment of chronic
periodontitis, aggressive periodontitis and periodontitis
associated with systemic conditions;
- presence of localised problems
following non-surgical periodontal treatment, such
as non-responsive periodontal defects, furcation
involvement or endo-perio lesions, where access
surgery, resective surgery, or regenerative procedures
(membranes and/or bone grafts and/or enamel matrix
proteins) may be indicated;
- presence of recession defects
or mucogingival deformities which are progressing
or require cosmetic enhancement and would benefit
from periodontal plastic surgery procedures for
soft tissue management, e.g. root coverage, increase
of keratinised tissues;
- aesthetic crown lengthening;
- surgical procedures for dental
implants placement alone or in combination with
ridge augmentation or sinus lifts.
