Whenever possible, we recommend all-porcelain crowns and bridges. In the past, crowns were made with porcelain bonded with white gold metal inside. These had problems of having thick margins and discolouration of the gums around the crowns. In certain circumstances, these are still made, usually because of costs restraints and mainly under NHS treatment.
