 I qualified as dental practitioner from Guys and St. Thomas Dental School in 1993. After several years working in general practice, I decided to pursue advanced training in complex restoration, implantology and orthodontics. I completed a masters program in Prosthodontics at the GKT institute, London followed by a masters degree in Implantology from Warwick University. I am currently following a masters degree in Orthodontics from the same University.
I work as Director of Antwerp House Group and lead clinician with the responsibility of ensuring effective clinical governance. Ultimately it is my responsibility to ensure that every practitioner and staff member is benchmarked to achieve and excel national standards. Apart from this managerial responsibility, most of my work is clinical.
I teach and mentor at the Royal College of Surgeons, and am one of the examiners for candidates sitting their Diploma in Restorative Dentistry. I run a journal club for dental research in North Hertfordshire and occasionally lecture to dental practitioners on subjects such as dental implantology, prosthodontics, laser based dentistry, and dental business.
At Antwerp House I accept referrals for management of complex cases which usually involve multidisciplinary care. Much of this treatment may require dental implants, orthodontics or complicated bite, root canal or gum management. For patients who are nervous about treatment, Dental Sedation is offered.
I have a special interest in the use of laser technology, and use a diode laser and an ErCrYSGG laser for various hard and soft tissue procedures. The use of this technology has a positive effect on reducing pain and swelling. My interest in lasers has led me to set up a cosmetic arm to my organization which focuses on non surgical enhancements to face and limbs by the use of a KTP and NdYag laser. My other technology interest is in the use of CAD/CAM dentistry, and a use a CEREC machine where appropriate to manufacture aesthetic restorations instead of using older style filling materials.
All in all I have a varied and interesting professional career and thrive on tackling challenging clinical cases. In my spare time, I annoy my wife, and enjoy life as a father to two cheeky youngsters. I enjoy tennis, being set to task by my personal trainer at the gym and reading. I also love spending time with my loves Sasha and Luther who are my German Shepherd dogs.
